Elena Ricci encounters Frans Masereel

This is an article I wrote about Frans Masereel, an extraordinary Flemish artist, born in 1889 , who worked mainly with the woodcutting technique and who invented the wordless novels: books made up only of black and white images in sequence, without any words. You can read the article on Conceptual Fine Arts

Piano Lessons - The art and life of German Diez

This is a new project I am working on: a documentary about Cuban pianist German Diez, who was a pupil of Claudio Arrau. German chose to abandon his career as a concert player because of his stage fright and dedicated his life to teaching. He founded the Greenwich House Music School in New York.

It is a project by film director Antongiulio Panizzi and pianist Francesca Khalifa, who was herself one of German's students. My contribution will be an animation work appearing in the documentary. You can watch the trailer here
